Cuddle Hearts

The simple joy of holding your baby whenever you want isn’t always possible for every mum. That’s where Cuddle Hearts come in—soft fabric hearts designed to help create a comforting connection between mother and child, even when they can’t be together.
These small yet meaningful hearts are perfect for young and premature infants, or children in need of extra comfort. Made from soft cotton or flannelette, each pair of hearts is sewn together and then shared—one heart is worn against the mother's skin to absorb her scent, while the other stays close to the baby. The hearts are then swapped, providing a soothing reminder of their bond.
Whether you’re a mum yourself or know someone who would cherish these, why not pick up your sewing kit and start stitching? This beginner-friendly project is quick, simple, and a beautiful way to bring comfort to little ones.
We'd like to give a special thanks to Tiny Sparks WA and Mater Mothers for providing the instructions and patterns to create these Cuddle Hearts.
MATERIALS NEEDED
The charities have requested that any donations be made in a pack of three cuddle hearts (one for mum, one for baby and one spare).
- Sewing machine
- Cotton or flannel material, plain or print (Please do not use fluffy or synthetic materials)
- Scissors
- Thread
The charities have been wonderful in providing instructions for you to follow to create these development hearts.
