Embroidery Blocks (various methods)
The first blocks we will be asking you to create for the Flowers in the Sun Community project are in two different styles. Choose which option works best for you and your machine and create one of the machine embroidery blocks:
- Option 1: a fill stitch embroidered block
- Option 2: a machine embroidery applique block
We share essential techniques, from fabric preparation to working with an in the hoop project, stitching, placing, and cutting. These creations will be a piece of a quilt that will be joined together as part of our Flowers in the Sun community project.
Minimum hoop size requirements:
Fill stitch design: 100mm x 100mm (4" x 4")
Appliqué design: 130mm x 180mm (5" x 7")

Products used
To join this project, we kindly request the purchase of the design pack, which includes all design files intended for use in the project. All proceeds from the purchase of this product throughout the 2024 calendar year will be donated to the Australian Melanoma Research Foundation.
Background fabric requirements
During each demonstration, we will provide the products used to create each block. If you're sending in your contribution, please use any solid blue shade for the background fabric and ensure the final fabric block is 12" x 12" to allow us to trim the blocks as needed. We just ask that you centre the design on the block as best as you can.
