I finally splashed out on buying the magnetic sash frame for my Brother VE2200. I do quite a bit of quilting with my embroidery machine and traditional hooping has always been a pain, particularly lining things up precisely for edge-to-edge quilting. I’d been struggling working on a QS quilt and having just earnt a bit of money doing HSC exam supervision, in a fit of frustration, I lashed out and ordered the magnetic hoop. It revolutionised my quilting efforts! It’s incredible easy to hoop the quilt sandwich and I can do fine adjustments with the hoop attached to the machine. It is expensive but the cost of having one QS quilt quilted by a professional will all but pay for it and I have the added bonus of knowing I have done the quilting myself. I would like there to have been an alignment grid of some sort to go with it but I have got around that by printing out the design on echy trace paper and making a template to exactly fit into the frame with a couple of short pieces of double sided tape on the back of the paper to help me align everything. That worked well. It’s also limited to a 5 x 7 inch hoop size, which is a bit frustrating when the machine has bigger hoop size working spaces available in traditional hoops. Nevertheless, this gadget has encouraged me enormously to keep on quilting when I was at the point of giving up.

Love this product. I suffer from Arthritis in my left wrist/thumb (I am also predominantly left handed) and the magnetic frame is so much easier for me to hoop without putting undue strain on my wrist and thumb. The magnetics hold the fabric beautifully and gave me a great stitch out.
