The Janome SewSwitch 30 brings conventional sewing and overlocking together in one compact machine, giving you the freedom to construct and finish your projects without needing two separate machines. Simply use the Switching Selector Dial to move between sewing and overlocking, making it an innovative space-saving solution for sewists who want greater versatility from their sewing setup.
On the sewing side, the SewSwitch 30 offers 30 built-in stitches, three one-step buttonholes, a built-in needle threader, top-loading bobbin, computerised controls and sewing speeds of up to 820 stitches per minute. Switch to overlocking and you have a dedicated 2-thread overlock system with adjustable stitch length and cutting width, an easy-thread lower looper and disengageable upper knife. Whether you're constructing a project or neatly finishing its edges, the SewSwitch 30 brings both processes together in one machine.
One machine, two ways to sew
Switch Between Sewing & Overlocking
Move between conventional sewing and overlocking using the dedicated Switching Selector Dial. Rather than needing two separate machines, the SewSwitch 30 combines both functions into one integrated system, making it easy to construct your project and then switch over to finish the edges.
Two Machines Without Taking Up the Space
By combining conventional sewing and overlocking into one machine, the SewSwitch 30 is particularly well suited to sewing rooms where space is limited. It gives you two essential sewing functions without requiring separate sewing and overlocking machines on your workbench.
Built-In Safety System

Create neatly sized buttonholes with three built-in buttonhole styles. Simply place your button into the sliding gauge of the Automatic Buttonhole Foot and the Sensor Buttonhole system helps create a buttonhole sized to suit your button.

The easy-to-read 2-digit LED screen provides a clear display while you select and adjust your sewing functions.

Convenient electronic controls make everyday sewing simple, with easy navigation buttons for stitch selection along with dedicated Start/Stop, reverse and needle position functions.
Up to 820 Stitches Per Minute
Sew at speeds of up to 820 stitches per minute for efficient everyday sewing. The built-in speed control slider lets you reduce the maximum sewing speed whenever you want greater control for detailed or more precise work.
Powerful Needle Penetration
A powerful motor provides stable needle penetration, helping the machine deliver dependable sewing performance across a variety of everyday projects.
Start/Stop Button
Sew without the foot control using the convenient Start/Stop button, giving you another way to operate the machine when preferred.
Speed Control Slider

Easy Reverse Button
Reinforce the beginning and end of seams using the conveniently positioned reverse button for simple, controlled reverse stitching.
Memorised Needle Up/Down
Choose whether the needle stops in the raised or lowered position when you stop sewing. Leaving the needle down can be particularly useful when pivoting fabric or working around corners.
Built-In Needle Threader
The built-in two-step needle threader helps guide the thread through the eye of the needle, reducing fiddly setup when you're ready to begin sewing or change thread.
Top-Loading Bobbin

Free-Arm Sewing
Detach the extension table to access the free arm, making it easier to sew tubular and hard-to-reach areas such as sleeves, cuffs, bags and trouser legs.
Overlocking Features
2-Thread Overlocking
Create neat, professional-looking edges using the dedicated 2-thread overlock system. The overlock side uses one needle, which can be installed in either the left or right needle position to suit your required finish.
Automatic Needle-Up Stop
When overlocking, the needle automatically stops in the raised position when you stop sewing. This makes it easier to insert, reposition and remove your fabric for a smoother start and finish.
Adjustable Stitch Length
Adjust the overlock stitch length from approximately 1mm to 5mm using the dedicated stitch length dial, allowing you to adapt your stitching to different fabrics and finishing requirements.
Adjustable Cutting Width
Adjust the lower knife position to optimise the cutting width for different fabrics and seam finishes. Cutting width ranges from approximately 3mm to 5mm with the right needle position and 5mm to 7mm with the left needle position.
Disengageable Upper Knife
When you want to overlock without trimming the fabric, simply use the upper knife release control to deactivate the upper knife. This gives you greater flexibility for different sewing and finishing techniques.
Easy-Thread Lower Looper
The SewSwitch 30 uses a dedicated lower looper threading mechanism designed to make one of the trickier parts of overlocker threading easier and more efficient.

Intuitive thread guides help guide you through threading the overlock needle and lower looper, making the threading path easier to follow and learn.
Overlock Foot Designed for Smooth, Stable Sewing
The specially designed overlock foot helps provide smooth and stable fabric feeding across a variety of sewing situations. A gentle curve at the front helps the foot move over changes in fabric thickness, while grooves underneath help reduce fabric slippage.
A built-in stopper helps minimise presser foot tilting when sewing thicker areas, while the extended needle-drop position guide improves visibility. The wider foot tip also helps guide stitches for neat, stable rolled hems.
Reduced Vibration & Noise
Specially designed rubber feet help reduce vibration and noise while improving machine stability, contributing to a smoother and quieter sewing experience even when working at higher speeds.
Retractable Carrying Handle
